Merry Christmas!!

Monday, December 26th, 2005

We had a wonderful Christmas and hope that everyone else did as well. We went to my parent’s house for Christmas Eve dinner with the Mackey’s. That was fun to see the cousins and they got to meet Baby Sydney. Pop read The Night before Christmas to everyone after dinner, Baby Boy kept himself entertained. We got home in time for Garrett to go to bed so Santa would not skip our house.

We had a fun time in the morning! Garrett really did not understand what was going on but he did have a blast with the wrapping paper and bows. Then Bert, Peggy, Ashley and Wade came over for lunch and we had Christmas with them. After Garrett woke up at 3pm we headed back to my parents for Christmas with them. We got lots of great stuff from all of our Christmas celebrations.

Today the three of us just took it easy. Branden took the week off so we had some good quality family time. We played with all of the fun new toys and had a good time.

I have added new pictures so check them out. Hope everyone has a chance to unwind from a busy weekend.

All Clear!

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

We got the results of Garrett’s blood work back today. He is not allergic to anything that they tested and he is not anemic. He can develop an allergy to anything at anytime but as of right now he is all clear.

So, we are moving on to table foods. Today he fed himself Gerber fruit and veggie puffs that was fun. That is the only thing that I have found that he does not gag on. Scooter loves them; he thinks that the baby is eating kitty treats. He is not too sure of canned apples, carrots or green beans. But who is? They don’t have much flavor. He does like banana pieces, not to eat but to squash between his fingers. I mixed in banana pieces in his applesauce and he sucked the applesauce off then spit them out. He likes to bang his sippy cup and chew on it. Who knew that transition was so hard on mothers?

Any suggestions?

9 month Doctor check up

Friday, December 9th, 2005

Oh what fun it is to go the doctor! Garrett did very well with all that they did to him.

His doctor said that he looks great and there is nothing that she is worried about. He is a little yellow but that is from all of his favorite yellow and orange foods. He is still in the 25%-50% in weight and height but he is following his curve very nicely. He weighs 18.3# and is 28 ¼ inches long. He got one shot for vaccinations and had his first flu shot. We have to go back and get the second one in 4 weeks, looking forward to that. :(

I told his doctor that I was very concerned about food allergies since Branden’s family is a disaster when it comes to that stuff (thanks Ashley :) ) so; we also did an allergy panel that they do when there is a large family history of problems. Ding, Ding that is us. It tests for the 5 major allergens wheat, milk, eggs, peanuts, and soy. It also does a few environmental ones. The results of that and the CBC should be back on Monday. They do a CBC routinely to check for anemia and to make sure he is getting everything that he needs.

To do the tests they have to take a blood sample. It was a good thing that Branden’s call went long and could not join us. The nurse tried to take it from his little arm but his vein rolled and then the vein blew. The other nurse tried his hand she got about 1/2cc then the vein collapsed. So, the last resort was to do a finger prick and squeeze the blood out, and that is what we did. Garrett was less than pleased to say the very least but they got what they needed and we look forward to getting the results. They asked me to help hold him and I do have to say my experience with holding animals for blood draws really came in handy. They were very impressed that he did not move, just screamed.

We do get to start feeding him foods from the table. Are you happy now Nono? But I am still going to watch his wheat and dairy intake even if the result comes back negative.

All in all it was a good visit. Now I am off to find wheat free cheerios. Wish me luck!!

Quack, Quack

This morning while playing in the corral, Garrett was playing with Waddles is teething duck. We were talking about Waddles’ eyes, hat and all that fun stuff. Then Garrett looked at him and said “Duck”. He said it several times in a row!! I was very excited! After I calmed down he picked up a favorite book, ‘Sailor Duck’ and pointed to a picture of a duck and said “Duck” again.

Now if he could just say, Mama.

9 months and having fun

Garrett had a big day today!

After many pleas from Branden and other family members, Garrett had his first haircut today. He was looking a little ragged in the front and in the back. There were no tears from me or the baby. We went to Cool Cuts 4 Kids. What a fun place! He sat in a yellow taxi cab chair and watched Elmo. They put his hair in a little pouch for me and took a Polaroid picture. Branden took a video and some pictures as well. He is loosing his ‘baby look’ and is starting to look like a little kid. Oh well, I can’t do anything about it.

His fourth tooth also broke through his gums. It went a little smoother than the other top tooth.

Travis and his girlfriend came over and watched football with us today. It was great seeing them!

When they left Branden came into the bedroom where I was folding clothes. James was in there with me playing with the baby. Branden sat down with his guitar and Garrett was very interested. Branden has played for him many times but this time Garrett wanted to touch it. Check out the pictures, they are very sweet.

Garrett and I are off to see Baby Sydney and Abigail tomorrow. I’m sure that will be another excited adventure!!

Miss. Sydney Laine Keck is here!! She was born November 30 at 7:54am weighing a whooping 9.04 pounds and is 19 1/2 inches long. We will get pictures up as soon as we can. Teri (my sister) is doing fine, just tired. Abigail is very excited to have her new sister and Mama home. Garrett and I had fun with Abigail. She is great with Garrett, and he loves her. Garrett is happy to be home. He is really happy to be sleeping in his own bed.

We had a great Thanksgiving! We had 3 great Thanksgivings! We enjoyed seeing everyone. Garrett is mesmerized with the Christmas Trees. Thankfully Sydney waited to come after we got all of our decorations up.

We are going to take it easy this weekend. Branden and I have a baby shower on Saturday and Mimi is going to stay with Garrett. We are staying home on Sunday to watch football. We are all looking forward to a nice quiet day at home before Branden leaves next week.

I am tired and going to bed.

Awaiting Baby Sydney

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

Well, Mama Chris and Baby Garrett are down at Tia’s house this week while they wait for Baby Sydney to be born. We’re hoping that things will happen sometime tomorrow. She is at the hospital now, and they are inducing tomorrow. So it’s just Brando & James at the casa tomorrow, then James is off to travel Thurs & Fri. I’ll be holding down the fort by myself.

Thanks to Mama Chris & Baby Garrett for my great father’s day present! We witnessed the ass-kicking that the Colts dished out on Pittsburgh IN INDY! w00t! Wow what a game.

Ok, I’m off for now. More soon.

Fun at the Gaylord Texan

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

We had a wonderful afternoon of fun today!! Erin and Eric parents of Jack, Garrett’s best friend had passes to see ICE! at the Texan. It is a wonderland made completely of ice. It was amazing! Very cold, 9 degrees to be exact, but still a lot of fun! They provided us with fabulous gold parkas. We bundled up the babies and they were troopers. Garrett and I went down a slide made of ice. That was tons of fun! Branden saw how much fun we had and had to go down it himself.

Garrett met Santa today! They got a great picture of Garrett sitting in his lap. I will try to get it up as soon as I can.

Happt Thanksgiving!!

Breaking out!

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005

It is official tooth number 3 has broken through!! After a few days of standard text book teething we finally have a tooth on top. It is his upper right side front tooth. The tooth next to it will be coming in soon.

Garrett is crawling around like a mad man and pulling up on everything. He is trying to stand on his own. Sometimes he does well but there are times when balance is not on his side. I know that feeling! His new favorite game is to chase a ball around the room. He goes back and forth and has a great time! He also likes the cat toys because he can carry them in his hand as he crawls around. Scooter follows him around and takes the toy when Garrett isn’t looking.

Garrett is looking forward to seeing friends and family over the next few days. We are still waiting for the arrival of Baby Sydney. She can not get here soon enough, just ask my sister.

We wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving! We especially have a lot to be thankful this year!

Party at Nono and Pop’s House

Saturday, November 12th, 2005

Tonight we went to my parent’s house for Branden’s birthday dinner. Garrett played with his favorite and only cousin Abigail. He loves her very much. She just walks in the room and he starts laughing. We played outside, crawled in the grass and swung on Nono and Pop’s swing set. Garrett enjoyed sitting in the grass and picking up the leaves. Then we went inside and played on the floor after dinner.

He also enjoyed sitting on Tia’s (my sister Teri) shelf. She is 37 weeks pregnant. She is ready to get the baby out! Garrett was communicating with unborn Baby Sydney.

Uncle (Jeff, my brother-in-law) came over on his motorcycle. He took me for my very first ride. It was fun, but I don’t have any desire to get one. Garrett also had some good Uncle time. He offered to feed Garrett his sweet potatoes and applesauce while I ate my dessert, strawberry shortcake, Yum Yum. I think he wanted practice.

All in all we had a great time!!!
