9 month Doctor check up
Oh what fun it is to go the doctor! Garrett did very well with all that they did to him.
His doctor said that he looks great and there is nothing that she is worried about. He is a little yellow but that is from all of his favorite yellow and orange foods. He is still in the 25%-50% in weight and height but he is following his curve very nicely. He weighs 18.3# and is 28 ¼ inches long. He got one shot for vaccinations and had his first flu shot. We have to go back and get the second one in 4 weeks, looking forward to that.
I told his doctor that I was very concerned about food allergies since Branden’s family is a disaster when it comes to that stuff (thanks Ashley
) so; we also did an allergy panel that they do when there is a large family history of problems. Ding, Ding that is us. It tests for the 5 major allergens wheat, milk, eggs, peanuts, and soy. It also does a few environmental ones. The results of that and the CBC should be back on Monday. They do a CBC routinely to check for anemia and to make sure he is getting everything that he needs.
To do the tests they have to take a blood sample. It was a good thing that Branden’s call went long and could not join us. The nurse tried to take it from his little arm but his vein rolled and then the vein blew. The other nurse tried his hand she got about 1/2cc then the vein collapsed. So, the last resort was to do a finger prick and squeeze the blood out, and that is what we did. Garrett was less than pleased to say the very least but they got what they needed and we look forward to getting the results. They asked me to help hold him and I do have to say my experience with holding animals for blood draws really came in handy. They were very impressed that he did not move, just screamed.
We do get to start feeding him foods from the table. Are you happy now Nono? But I am still going to watch his wheat and dairy intake even if the result comes back negative.
All in all it was a good visit. Now I am off to find wheat free cheerios. Wish me luck!!

Ha Ha Ha. Blame Papa Williams, not me.
I am curious to see the results of his tests and will hope for the best.

Will also be interested in the results of the bloodwork. And, yes, I am happy about the table foods. I thought I was late in starting you at 6 months!
