Good times

Thursday, August 25th, 2005

We have posted a few new pictures and I took a few videos of Garrett rolling over but the file is too big. So, I am going to fix that and hopefully get the videos up as soon as I can.

I have been having trouble with my wrist for about 4 months now and finally went to see an orthopedic doctor yesterday. I have De Quevain’s Disease or as my doctor called it, ‘New Mom’s Disease’. So, she gave me a cortisone injection in my wrist. That hurt!! I have to wear a splint that immobilizes my thumb when I am doing things that could hurt it. I also have to go to therapy 2-3 times a week for 4-6 weeks. And after all of this if it is not better then I may need surgery. She told me that I can still practice yoga as long as it does not bother me. I am happy about that. Now I just need to find time to go to therapy so I won’t need surgery.

Garrett is moving along on the floor very well! He is working on getting his knees up. But that does not stop him from getting places. He is also getting the hang of eating off a spoon. Hopefully, we will be able to start on other foods soon.

Time to go feed the baby! See you soon!

5 months and counting

Friday, August 5th, 2005

Garrett celebrated his 5 month birthday on Tuesday!

Garrett is working on sitting up by himself. He almost has it but still falls over. He is also trying to crawl. He really doesn’t need to since he gets where he wants to by rolling all over the floor. We are still perfecting the art of eating cereal. At times we get more on his face and hands than in his mouth, but we have fun. He is sleeping from around 9pm until around 7:30am. (Knock on Wood) We count our blessings everyday! We are very lucky!

Tia and Cousin Abigail stayed with us for a few days this week. We had fun swimming and playing. Mister Jack came over to play this week and we had a great time. I can’t wait until they can play with each other, they are going to have many adventures together.

Give us a call and come over and play!

Update

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

Sorry, it has been awhile since the last update but we have been very busy. We went to our family’s lake house at Lake Whitney a few weeks ago with Nono, Pop, Tia, Uncle and Abigail. That was fun! Garrett enjoyed playing with everyone and with Pearl and Domino. The house has been in my family for 5 generations, I think that is pretty cool.

We had Garrett’s 3 month pictures taken and they turned out great! http://www.brw.net/gallery/studio

We survived all of the 4th of July festivities. We had our annual party and had a blast. You can check out the pictures. http://www.brw.net/gallery/july042005
Garrett and I were very excited to finally meet the Brown’s. Branden works with Matt and met Katy and Cooper when he traveled up their way. We and a great time with them and with Erin, Eric and Baby Jack. Erin is Katy’s sister who lives about 5 minutes from us. It is a small world!

We also went to the Double Oak annual 4th of July parade and picnic. It was fun as usual. I bid in several items at the silent auction and won a Dallas Stars pendent signed by Andy Moog. It will look great on my hockey wall. Garrett rode the in the fire truck and almost fell asleep. He did enjoy himself and did not mind the sirens or the horn. I got to honk the horn and that made me happy. Of course Kevin was driving and we took several pictures of them together. I think we may have a future firefighter on our hands.

We are all very happy for Ashley and Wade who got engaged in Hawaii earlier this summer. The date is set and plans are under way. Garrett will have a small part in the ceremony but it will be determined later. It depends on if he can walk or he may ride in a wagon down the aisle. Either way it should be interesting how he does. I will keep you posted on how things are going with that.

Garrett is growing very fast! We had his 4 month check up last week. He weighed 15 pounds. He received 4 shots 2 in each leg. Ouch! Everyone was very brave including Branden! His doctor was very pleased with his progress and said that we can start him on rice cereal and start to wean him off of his 11pm feeding. He is still getting the hang of eating off of a spoon. We are having fun with that.

He did not have a reaction to his shots which I am very happy about. On Sunday he woke up with crusty eyes. I washed his face and waited to see if he did it again. Monday he was better but today he woke up with it again so I took him to the doctor and he has pink eye. His doctor said that pink eye can precede a cold or ear infection. Hopefully, the eye drops will take care of it and we won’t have to worry about any of that. Branden has a cold and I hope that they aren’t giving it back to each other. We are taking Mimi and Papa to the lake house this weekend. So we need the little guy to be well.

I think that catches everyone up on what we have been doing. So, what have ya’ll been doing?

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling

Monday, June 6th, 2005

I was so excited about Garrett’s swim that I forgot to update everyone on his new tricks. He can roll over from his tummy to his back and is working on sitting up. He is trying very hard to sit up, he looks like a weeble, but he does fall down. He gets very excited to see his feet. He looks down to see his wiggling piggies and falls forward then gets stuck. Oh well, that is the price you pay to play with your piggies. Garrett also is enjoying standing with the help of others and jumping. He wants to go. He doesn’t know where but he wants to get there in a hurry. I am afraid that it is only a matter of time until he starts crawling. That is something that I am not looking forward to, I like putting him somewhere and knowing that he will be there when I return. We will have to pull out the pack in play when that happens. He is also full of smiles and big belly laughs. We have tried to get his big laughs on video but he does not like to perform on demand. So, when we get it we will share it with you.

That is all for today. You can follow Branden’s trip in Irleand on his web site he has posted pictures of his trip so far in the gallery. Garrett and I both miss him and don’t like him being so far away. But, we are glad that he is having a great time. Enjoy, B!

Fun in the Sun!!

Friday, June 3rd, 2005

Garrett went for his first swim today. We all had a great time. It was not too hot outside and the water was warm. He enjoyed his boat and splashing in the water. He was looking handsome as ever with his swimsuit and hat. Check out his coordinating red sunglasses.

We wish everyone coordinating outfits and Happy Swimming!

What’s new?

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005

Well, not a lot going over here. Garrett is working on holding his head up and is trying to sit up. He has perfected his smile and flashing his dimple. He did have a slight case of thrush. He is still taking his medicine but he is much better. We are going to Mommy and Me Yoga. We are making friends and having fun. He is looking forward to the summer so he can go swimming in his pool and at the lake. He will be ready for Lakefest so watch out. We are going to do his 3 month pictures in the studio so, keep your eyes open.

New Pictures!

Well, we’ve got Tree Planting and Mother’s Day with the Great Grandmothers.

We did it ,and had minimal tears!

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

Garrett was great today at his 2 month check up. His doctor said that he looks great and is right where he should be at 2 months. He weighs a whooping 12.6 pounds and is 23 1/2 inches long. That is 2 inches longer and 4 pounds heavier than he was at his 2 week visit. He received 4 shots 2 in each leg. He was very brave and I was brave as well. When the nurse gave him his shots he was more startled than anything. He cried for just a minute then he went to sleep. He was not impressed. Nono went with us since Branden had a meeting. We all deserved a sticker when it was all finished. We just need to get through tonight and the next few days hopefully without a reaction.

We have our plate full the next few days. We have Abigail’s birthday on Saturday, Branden’s grandmothers are coming in town tomorrow to see their first great-grandbaby and who could forget Mother’s Day on Sunday.

Hopefully, I will be able to find time for a yoga class or two.
