We went to the Rodeo, yes in the rain

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

Ye-haw! It is rodeo time once again. This is one of my favorite things to do. I have been to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo since I can remember with my family. I am happy that we are continuing this tradition with Garrett. We went this morning to walk around the exhibits and barns before the rodeo which started at 2pm. Garrett was able to meet Elise the cow and pet her. He was very excited to be that close to a real cow. I really need to get him out more.  He loved looking at the big tractors but did not want to sit on them. Next year we probably won’t be able to get him off them. We also talked to horses. He asked them how they were doing, it was too sweet. There was an exhibit of chickens, roasters and ducks. They were very loud and evidently that was very funny. We watched one very large chicken strut around in her cage, she slipped and he could hardly control himself. This kid can find humor in anything.

During the rodeo, he was about as good as I thought he would be. He would sit still for a little while and watch but then he wanted down and there was not room for him get down. Uncle took him for walks during the show and I took him as well. He is almost 2 years old and he missed his nap. What more can you expect from him? Sydney and Abigail were both getting antsy as well.

Branden was able to use his professional flash device and access the arena’s flashes. He took great action shots and he will post them soon. He was so happy to finally do this.

After the rodeo we went to the children’s petting zoo that we always go to outside the coliseum. Garrett loved this! You walk in and there are animals walking around everywhere. Little goats, big llamas, chickens, ducks, bunnies greet you when you walk in. He is such an animal lover. We left for home after the petting zoo. Nono and Pop and the Keck’s stayed to look around.

Garrett was very tired when we got home. So I gave him a bath, he ate dinner and was in bed at 7:15pm and we have not heard a peep from him. Sleepy boy.

We went to Abigail’s house yesterday to play and pick up the rodeo tickets. She took Garrett for a ride in her Barbie Jeep that Santa brought her. They were so funny riding around the yard. I took a few pictures and a video. Check them out.

Have a great weekend and GO COLTS!!!!

Fat Lip, Wiggle Wiggle, Snot and Sort of a Snow Day

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

Life over here has been interesting as usual. Branden had a wonderful trip to London. It was a very exciting 18 hours for him. Garrett and I got wonderful souvenirs from the airport. Garrett loves his London bear that we named Charlie. While Branden was jet setting around the world Garrett had a little accident while he was playing. He loves to dive into piles of pillows. Well, he dove but did not get up very quickly. I called his name and he looked up with blood coming out his mouth. He bit his lip when fell. So, he had a fat lip for a day. His teeth were not hurt, just his little pride.

We went to Wiggle Play Center in Frisco last week with our friends. Since we LOVE the wiggles it was a hit! Garrett climbed over everything and went down every slide. He started going down the slides facing forward then he started sliding down on his tummy. Silly kid! Erin took him into a bounce house with a huge slide and he came down squealing and saying, “WEEEEE”. I had a great time in the bounce houses too!

Somewhere we picked up a retched cold. He started with a runny nose and cough last week and it is still here. I took him to the doctor on Friday because he was pulling at his ears and was not eating very well. I did not want him to go into the weekend with an ear infection. But everything turned out to be fine. He gave everyone hugs and high fives at the office. I called his doctor this morning since it is still here. They called in antibiotics so hopefully we will be on the road to recovery. Normally I would have let this run its course but he is having his surgery next week and he does not need to be sick. So, wish us snot free days ahead.

We received a little snow last night and this morning. Our family and friends that are to our south received A LOT more than we did. But we still had fun! I think Garrett was more excited to be outside than he was about the snow. I gave him his shovel and sand bucket and he went around and cleaned off all of the chairs. He cried when it was time to come inside. We will get out tomorrow, with any luck. We went to Target and Petsmart yesterday just to get out of the house. He loved Petsmart. We looked at the fish, birds, kitties and small pocket pets. The mice and hamsters were his favorite. They put on a good show for him. He was doing big belly laughs! It was great! He saw a very handsome Doberman and said, “Hi, Dog”. His owner heard Garrett and brought him over to see us. Garrett wanted to be picked when he saw a dog that was much larger than him coming his way. But the dog laid down and Garrett got to pet him. It was very sweet.

Branden and I went to his company’s holiday party on Saturday. We were not sure we were going to make it with the weather but the roads were fine. It was at the Dallas Aquarium. I haven’t been there before and it is pretty neat. They have these really funny monkeys. I enjoyed it. Mimi and Papa stayed with little G-Man. He always has a good time when they come over. He had fun; we got a night out good times for all.

There are new pictures up! Stay warm and enjoy the cold weather while it is here.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

Whew! What a whorl wind the last few weeks have been. We had a wonderful Christmas. Garrett has more toys than he could hope for. Santa was very good to him this year. Of course we hopped from house to house, we had 4 Christmas celebrations in 2 days. We all were very tired by Christmas Day night. It is too much for the kiddos and for us. My family brought up the idea of celebrating Christmas Day on another day. I love the idea! My parents both said that all that matters is that we celebrate Christmas together sometime when we all are rested and are not rushed. They will split Christmas day between our house and The Keck’s, like my Grandparents did with us. Branden said that his goal is for us not to leave our house Christmas Day so the kids can play with their toys, no we are not pregnant just thinking about the future. We will think more about that when it gets closer.

We spent New Year’s Eve at Mimi and Papa’s house. We laid Garrett down and then we played games and such. We were home around 1:30am, not that exciting which is what we wanted. Then we went to my parent’s house like we do every year. It was great catching up with everyone that we don’t see very often.

Branden took off work the week between Christmas and New Years and Garrett and I loved it. He started working again on Tuesday, but he isn’t traveling. So he is working from home. We miss playing with him but are very happy to have him home. He will be traveling to the UK next week. But he will only be there for a 2 hour meeting then will head home.

Garrett is turning into a toddler! He shows me new things that he can do everyday. We are having a lot of fun. Don’t get me wrong we have our moments and he responds well to time out most of the time. Branden and I are picking our battles.

May this year be the best for you and your family!!

New Pictures are up!
