Baby Watch 2008

Friday, November 14th, 2008

I had my 38 week check this morning and not much to report. I am dilated to 2cm but not much else going on. My contractions are getting to be more frequent but not consistent. So, we still have a long way to go.

While we were there I glanced at my chart and it had my due date as November 25, I thought it was Nov 30. I asked my doctor about it and she said that according to my period it is the 25th, but my first sonogram put it at the 30th and the second sonogram said the 29th. It really doesn’t mean anything at this point. I am 38 weeks and that is considered full term. I asked her if she had a plan for me or if she had any predictions. She said that she feels like she is going to come early, maybe next week. She isn’t sure right now. My next appointment is on Tuesday so hopefully we will know more then. She did say that she is on call this weekend so if we need her she will be around. That means there is still time if you would like to place your bet on when Baby Sister will be here. www.brw.net/babybet And for those of you that have already placed your bets I don’t have any more information for you.

Branden took today off from work. So, after my appointment we took Garrett to Founder’s Plaza at DFW airport. They both had a good time watching the planes take off and land. It is such a nice day it is hard to keep my boys inside. Garrett still has a cough left over from our colds. He was playing outside with B after lunch but had to come in to take a breathing treatment. I hope he is over this soon!

October is gone

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Wow, when you have lots going on you just go through the motions and look up and a month is over. What a month it was. Branden traveled most of the month and that was hard on G-Man. We went to the Air Show again this year and had a great time. Branden turned 30! That was a a fun party! Garrett attended a sibling class at the hospital to get ready for Baby Sister. He was able to take a tour of the hospital to see where I am going to be after the baby is born. I think he got a lot out of it after he stopped banging his baby doll on the ground. We had a great time on Halloween and Garrett really got into it. I love it that he is starting to understand all of the holidays. He already has told me what he wants Santa to bring him. We will see if Santa is listening.

November is going by just as fast and soon we will have a new baby. We just need to learn to totally enjoy each moment and not look forward to what is going to happen next.

Just Sayin’

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Garrett comes out with the funniest things these days. He is so innocent in what he says and it makes me giggle.

Getting ready for bed one night:

G: Mama, I like your big eyes.
Me: Thanks buddy, I like your eyes too.
G: My eyes are smaller but when I wake up they will be big like yours.

At the Airshow when Daddy left to go get us food:

G: Mama, can you pick me up like Daddy I can’t see.
Me: Okay, but you can’t sit on my shoulders just in my arms.
G: I still can’t see. Why are you short?
Me: Because God wanted me to be short, maybe you will stay short too.
G: Nope, God wants me to be tall like Daddy.

Watching me get ready one morning:

G: Can I wear earrings?
Me: Nope, earrings are for girls.
G: Oh okay, and potato heads.
Me: What?
G: Mrs. Potato Head, she wears earrings too.
Me: Yes, only for girls and Potato Heads.

Where in the World is Daddy?

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

The answer this week is, Brussels!

Branden has been getting in his business travel before Baby Sister is born and that means he has been gone, A LOT. His travel was under control until the last month or so. Garrett is really missing him and so am I. The most we have seen him is two days in a row.

We went to Arkansas this past weekend just the two of us and Garrett stayed with my sister and her family. Branden and I had a great time seeing old friends. It was nice but short lived since we got in Sunday morning and B left for London Sunday night. He hasn’t seen Garrett in almost a week. When they talked on the phone this morning Garrett thanked Branden for calling him. I almost cried. He also asked how many minutes until he comes home. Garrett is ready for some much needed Daddy time but that will have to wait. Branden gets in Thursday late afternoon, is going flying Friday night, and leaves on Saturday for is Father’s Day Football Game in San Francisco. He gets back on Monday and will leave again on Tuesday. It will all be over soon and will be worth it when he gets to stay home with us.

We will get our family time in before Baby Sister gets here if she cooperates. Right now we are still on target for a late November arrival. I am having Braxton Hicks contractions every now and then and she is very low. So my body is getting ready. It takes a lot for me to get around these days. So if you call and I am out of breath I didn’t just get in from a run I probably just walked up the stairs.

Her room is finished and the cats are enjoying sleeping in her bed and on the changing table. We all are getting ready for her arrival. I am almost finished Christmas shopping and have all of the presents wrapped and ready to go. With her coming during the holidays I want to be able to enjoy my time and not be rushed. The holidays are busy enough without a newborn but we are planning on taking it easy this year.

Branden has the baby betting game ready and will send that out soon if you would like to play again.

Hope everyone is going to enjoy our 24 hours of Fall weather that came in this afternoon, I know I will.

Tell it like it is

Tonight Garrett gave me one of his lollipops out of his candy bag. This was our conversation about how to eat it.

G: Mama, take the wrapper off. Good job.

Me: Thanks, buddy. What do I do now?

G: Now SUCK IT!

Those are his detailed instructions. After Branden and I stopped laughing we decided that was not the last time Garrett is going to tell us that as he grows up.

First Day of Fall?

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Okay, the first day of Fall was officially on Monday. Why is it 87 degrees outside? It is not supposed to be that hot outside anymore. I am ready for it to be cooler outside and all of the wonderful things that go with it. We love to go to the pumpkin patch and eat warm comfort foods. It is time for summer to be over. I am usually the last one to want summer to end but this year, I am um let’s say a few pound heavier and the heat is getting to me. I was sweating walking to the car from Wal-Mart, it is ridiculous.

Summer, I love you but it is time to go. See you next year! This pregnant lady needs to cool off.

My Baby Bump

My Bump, my bump, my lovely baby bump. Check it out.

(Sorry if you have “Humps” stuck in your head)

Here is baby girl at 27 weeks.

School Days

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Garrett started school today and had a great day! He was ready to go and see his friends from last year. His school is longer this year than last year, he stays until 2:00pm instead of 11:30am. I got so much done while he was gone! It is going to be so good for him especially when Baby Sister gets here. We had our after First Day of School snack of french fries and ice cream like we did last year. He was very hungry since he didn’t eat much of his lunch. But that does not surprise me, he gets very distracted while eating.

You can see from his pictures that he had a good day!

What a Weekend

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

We had a wonderful weekend! Branden finally came home from a 10 day business trip to Australia on Thursday. Garrett and I picked him up at the airport with balloons and party hats. When we walked into the airport Garrett asked if we were in Australia. I guess when you have no concept of direction it could have well been Australia. We waited for Branden at the baggage claim. When Garrett saw him walk through the doors he yelled, “Daddy!!” and he took off running toward Branden. It was the sweetest thing! He missed his Daddy so much and so did I.

On Friday, we had our Williams family inaugural flight. Garrett was very excited to get into Daddy’s Cessna 172 and to wear his headset. Garrett was not too sure of the plane at first but then he was fine and ran to the plane ready to go up. We had a very nice flight with Daddy and James up front and me and G-Man in the back looking out the windows. Garrett got a little bored during the flight, he was very relaxed and almost fell asleep. Branden is a very safe pilot but I would not expect anything different. Baby girl did well during the flight but did not like to sudden little bumps and would kick my belly. She will have to get over that since she will be up in the air with the rest of us.

After the flight, we went back home and packed the car for the lake. James joined us for a relaxing weekend at my family’s lake house. We did not do much of anything other than swimming, throwing rocks, and enjoying no distractions. It was nice to get away but I am happy to be home and get everyone back on schedule.

There are pictures up of the flight and James took a lot of pictures of G swimming. Thanks, James! There will be no comments about me in a swim suit. When you get big you don’t have many options.

While Branden was away G and I spent several days at my sister’s house. We had a great time playing with the girls and it was a nice distraction to be away from the house. One of the places we took the kids was Bouncin’ Bonanza. They had this alligator where the kids would climb in it’s mouth, slide down once inside, and then come out the alligator’s tail. It looked like it would poop out the kids. Very interesting, but the kids loved it.

School starts next week so we are going to enjoy our last week of summer.

Problem Solver

“Mama, I have a booger.”

“Okay Garrett, I will get you a Kleenex.”

“It’s okay I wiped it on my shirt.”
