Party Time!!

March 13th, 2008

I know this is long over due but Garrett is 3!!! Yea!

We partied all weekend and thanks to all who helped us celebrate. It all started off with our family party at the house. We rented a bounce house and everyone had a great time. We wanted Garrett to be able to enjoy all of his guests so we split up his parties. It worked out great and he was able to spend time with everyone. So, we had a bounce house and then Branden showed off his mad grilling skills by grilling up hamburgers and hotdogs. But it was James who made the burgers and added the extra love. We bounced all day long and I was very sore the next day.

Sunday was Garrett’s actual birthday so we headed to Starbuck’s like we do every Sunday and he had a birthday doughnut. Then we went to the King’s house and Garrett ran around there until lunch time. We stopped at Sonic for G’s favorite lunch then home for a nap. For dinner we went to Bari’s a great restaurant for pizza then to Baskin Robin’s for birthday ice cream.

On Monday we had a party with his friends at Bounce World. Yes, he loves to bounce! Then off to lunch for pizza again. He loved every minute of it.

We had so much fun!

I can already tell that this year is going to be harder than last year. I’m not sure who came up with the terrible two’s but they got it wrong, it is the terrible three’s. Last year was great. As we approached his birthday we could see changes in him, some for the good and some not so much. It is like Garrett woke up and decided that he wasn’t going to be bossed around anymore. Don’t get me wrong he is still having more good days than bad but I have no warning when his switch is going to flip. And it is usually the situations that I think are going to be fine when he loses it, and the ones that I think are going to be challenging he is great. He is certainly keeping me on my toes that one.

Anyway, Garrett is three! Raise a glass ’cause Mama is going to be drinking!

P.S. There are new pictures up but not all of the ones that were taken at the party. Someone who shall remain nameless but is playing guitar hero right now needs to put them up.

Finally got uploading fixed!

Yeah… I’m getting slower at figuring this stuff out. Anyway… If you want to see a fun video of Garrett playing in the snow, click here.

Dancing Fool

March 4th, 2008

Tonight Garrett was dancing around after bath time. Then he started bobbing his head and blinking fast. I asked him what he was doing and he said, “My eyes are dancing.” Silly me, I thought he had something in his eye.

On the Way to School this Morning

March 4th, 2008

Straight out of a 3 year olds mouth:

“Mama, the snow made a blanket on the grass.”

I love the way he thinks and his thought process.

P.S. He had a great birthday and great birthday parties. I will put up the pictures soon.

Blueberries make you go fast

January 16th, 2008

Garrett had blueberries at his friend’s house this week. He loves them but they make him have what we call blueberry poo. Since they are a summer fruit he was so excited to see them on the counter. I only gave him a few since I knew we would pay for it the next morning. When I went to get him the next morning he told me that he had poop in his pants. But then he got very excited and said, “Mama it was fast poo. It was faster faster.” I was glad that his father wasn’t there to teach him new words to describe it. I didn’t think it was the time for a life lesson.

A true Gentleman

January 6th, 2008

I was getting in the shower this morning and Garrett walked in. He looked at me in all my glory and said, “Mana, you are so cute.” That may not be the response a naked woman would like to hear, but it is close.

Slow Down

January 5th, 2008

I went to Target on New Year’s Eve and to my surprise they already had Valentine’s items and swimsuits out. Why can’t we finish one holiday before another one is forced down our throats? I am all about celebrating holidays but come on. It was 6 days after Christmas, not even a whole week. We took our trees down January 2, it was time. But that does not mean that I am ready to celebrate a holiday that is in February. Why can’t we enjoy the moment we are in instead of constantly looking forward?

I think I feel this way since I am a Mom. Time goes by so fast and my baby is growing up. I know that I am always saying that. It seems like when I was a kid the time would drag on. But the older I get the calendar flips faster.

I like the beginning of the year, getting a clean slate. Not knowing what the year holds is intriguing to me. What surprises will we have? What disappointments? I don’t know but whatever it is we will get through it all. I have a wonderful family and great friends and I intend to enjoy each moment that is given to me.

Good Festive Time

January 4th, 2008

We had wonderful Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. We still ran around and had a total of 5 Christmas get togethers but it was very manageable. We were able to stay home on Christmas Day and I think that was a favorite for both me and Branden. Our families stopped by to see what Santa brought Garrett and I made lunch and dinner. It was great, it felt right to stay home and let Garrett play with all of his new toys. We enjoyed the time we had at our families homes and I love that Garrett really got into it this year.

I hope that the things that we did this year will turn into traditions. We made cookies, put out reindeer food, Santa’s milk and cookies, seeing the trains at North Park, and other fun holiday things. I love it!

Branden always takes extended time off between Christmas and New Years and Garrett and I love having him home to ourselves. It is going to be very hard when he goes back to work next week. Garrett loves having his Daddy home to play with, and so do I. It has been a great break for all of us.

We wish everyone a Very Happy 2008!

Choo Choo, Happy Merry Christmas

December 11th, 2007

We had a very festive weekend. On Saturday we attended the Flower Mound Christmas Parade. Garrett had a blast! He loved the bands and fire trucks. But that should not be a surprise to anyone. He did learn very quickly that if he waved and said, “Merry Christmas” he would get candy. He received more candy at the parade than he did at Halloween. It was crazy. He started by putting the candy that he likes in his pockets but quickly ran out of room. Then he put it in the pouch that is on his chair. Towards the end he was saying, “Happy Merry Christmas”, it was very sweet.

On Sunday we went to Polar Express in Grapevine with the Pottebaum’s. We had a great time. Garrett was very excited about going on a train ride. He did great! On the train he looked out the window the whole time so it was hard to get a good picture. Santa was on the train and talked to each of the children. Garrett and Jack had fun at the restaurant before we went to the train. The weather made it feel like Christmas. I loved it!

This is one of my favorite seasons and I am glad that Garrett is old enough to enjoy it with us.

Check out the new pictures!

Santa, he’s good people

December 7th, 2007

Garrett was very happy to see the fat man today. In fact when I took him out of his stroller he ran to Santa and jumped in his lap. They had a great conversation and shared a few belly laughs. It was great to see him connect with Santa. Hopefully, we will be able to keep the magic of the season alive for him for a long time. He deserves it.
